It's arrived!

Yesss! My iPod arrived today - much earlier than expected! Very Good :-D

After some resetting, updating, syncing and groaning I've finally got all my Music and Videos on there, now I can listen to Podcasts everywhere, joy.

And with the help of HandBrake, (and not forgetting that Picture Resize to 320 setting!), I got my Frasier episodes on to it under TV Shows - great. I'm going to try rip more DVDs, converting my downloaded episodes of Simpsons isn't worth the time so I'll stick to HandBrake and my DVDs for now. :-D

I like it.

I Finally Did it...

I am finally the to-be owner of an iPod

I have just bought an iPod 30GB 5.5G off Amazon for £137. 30GB is more than enough and will keep me going for ages! I only have 4gb of music so there you are. I know that Apple probably gonna bring out new iPod Widescreen soon but oh well...I'll get an iPhone for Christmas and all will be well.

Happy Days

Prediction

Apple is going to be updating iLife very soon and it's going to be much bigger than before.

iWeb - they may look into Social-Profile Networks though this may not be in this upcoming build. iWeb will have much more control over your content such as publishing privately or to everyone. This will be a major area of improvement. It will also have much more versatile pages, so it can be used for things other than Blogs, Photos and Podcasts. This will probably mean customizable templates or the ability to add your own templates. Also, the ability to add 'Web Widgets' to your pages.
They will make Publishing, even to 3rd Party services much more easier than in Version 1.0. They'll also upgrade .Mac iDisk size soon to accomodate for photos, movies, podcasts.

iPhoto - iPhoto too is getting a great update. They're going to be upgrading the print services, as usual, giving a lot more choices as well as choices in how you print your photos - this will be a lot easier in iPhoto 7.

iMovie - iMovie is getting cool updates, in terms of the video effects. It will have the 'Backdrop' feature, similar to what was shown in iChat at WWDC 2006, as a capture effect (similar to how Time-Lapse is seen as a capture effect), so you can do blue-screen effects without the hassle. Also, the ability to drop photos onto a clip and have it stay there hovering over the clip, not have it act as a frame. May also integrate to Garageband to tackle video podcasting.

Garageband - updating the Podcasting studio, especially video-podcasting. Lots more jingles, nice vocal samples included. Publishing the Podcast will be much easier.

iDVD - more themes, better integration with iMovie

Also on the iPhone...Apple is looking to really try and make syncing it with Mac OS X really easy, especially Video and Photos. The iPhone will record videos on its 2MP Camera as well as photos and Apple is really working on this area of the iPhone.

That's all folks

No Macs at Macworld?

Hello

I watched Macworld last night and even though I was knocked back by the iPhone, it was surprising to see no mention of the Macs whatsoever, or Leopard or even iLife and iWork!

But I have a theory...
Apple uses this new Multi-touch in their iPhone, and it looks absolutely amazing. But I really don't think Apple went through all this trouble for it to stop at the iPhone. I think that a Multi-touch Mac is coming up. From the look of the multi-touch presentation on that leaked video from years ago, it looks like they have big plans for Multi-touch, it is afterall a revolutionary interface, like the mouse and click-wheel.
So why were there no Macs? I think they're building an iMac, even if it is going to be called that I'm skeptical of, since it doesn't fit the i = consumer, Power = Professional table anymore with the introduction of Macbook/MacbookPro/Mac Pro etc... - an iMac with multi-touch BUT they are not ready yet, if they were Steve would have showed us, but they are not quite ready. Maybe Leopard's big features is exactly this...Multi-touch! And this is why we didn't see Leopard on Tuesday either.

I might be a little enthusiastic or optimistic but I think this is what Apple has in mind. But what about the MacMinis and MacPros -they don't have displays like 'iMac' - that's where these 'New Apple displays' steps in... the ones we didn't see - again because it's not ready. iSight was taken off the store because it's going into these new displays and so is multi-touch. Leopard will have Mouse/Keyboard compatbiility, but I'm guessing it has Multi-touch too...well hopefully!

After reading the text-updates I was dissapointed with Macworld, but after seeing it on Quicktime, it wasn't a dissapointment, because iPhone is infact a column that is upholding the new Apple Inc. Apple is moving out of just the computer industry, it did so in 2001 with the iPod, so to criticise them for straying away from computers is ridiculous! I think despite not being a traditional Macworld we were all expecting, it was likely one of the most important the company has had or will have for a long time, so was exciting. Maybe Jobs was expecting his new Multi-touch Macs to be ready and that's why it seemed a little empty.

Oh well...I can dream.
